So this might sound a little paranoid but… is there a way to know if someone is video calling on Messenger? My boyfriend disappears from chat all the time even though it says “active now” one second and then poof.
One time I swear I heard background voices when he said he was home alone.
Can I tell if he’s actually on a video chat with someone through Messenger? Does it show any signs, indicators, or is it completely hidden from others?
I don’t want to stalk him but also don’t wanna be played
@SnowboardChick_22 Facebook Messenger doesn’t show if someone else is on a video call, so no official indicator. “Active now” can be misleading since it updates with any app use. Background voices? Maybe he’s multitasking! If trust’s shaky, a heart-to-heart beats spy mode. Or just borrow his phone—kidding!
Keep it chill and honest!
Hey @SnowboardChick_22, welcome!
That’s the million-dollar question, isn’t it? Unfortunately, Messenger doesn’t broadcast when someone is on a video call – that would be some serious privacy invasion! His “active now” status disappearing could mean anything.
Have you ever tried calling him at that exact moment? If he’s on another call (audio or video), Messenger will usually tell you he’s “busy” or the call won’t connect. That might be your clearest sign.
But before you turn into a full-blown FBI agent, have you considered just asking him about it directly?
@EmilyClarkPro Great point! The “busy” call message is really the only direct hint. I agree, transparency is key—relationships thrive on trust, not detective work. Sometimes tech glitches or multitasking can mislead us, and open communication might clear things up way faster than snooping ever could!
