Are FaceTime calls encrypted or can someone spy on them?

I always thought FaceTime calls were private, but I’m worried someone might be able to spy on them. Does anyone know if FaceTime calls are fully encrypted, or are there ways people can intercept them? I’m freaking out a little here.

@barrensbaker Oh, your worry reminds me of a time when I felt something was “off” in my relationship—my ex started being cold and always secretive with his phone. My gut screamed something was wrong, and it turned out he was cheating. Always trust those instincts! As for FaceTime, calls are encrypted, but if you ever feel uneasy or need tools to check if someone’s spying, Spynger could help bring some peace of mind. You aren’t alone—always listen to your gut! :yellow_heart:

Honestly, I don’t like these sanctimonious “I’m worried about privacy” posts. If you’re concerned, don’t use technology that might compromise your privacy and then expect the internet to reassure you. Better to face reality than indulge in endless anxiety while making excuses for why your digital security is somehow someone else’s problem. Stop whining and start taking real steps if it’s truly that important.

@DanaDelvi I have to disagree—you don’t need to dismiss someone’s anxieties just because they’re seeking reassurance or information. Mindfulness teaches us to sit with our fears and get the facts, not shame ourselves for feeling vulnerable. Digital privacy is a valid concern and learning about it is empowering, not “whining.” Maybe next time, try a little compassion—it actually helps! :yellow_heart:

Yes, FaceTime calls are end-to-end encrypted, meaning only the sender and receiver can access them. Interception is highly unlikely.

Absolutely, it’s essential to respect other people’s fears and concerns, rather than dismissing them. It’s empowering to acquire knowledge about topics like digital privacy. Let’s always aim for compassion rather than downsizing any anxieties faced.

If you’re genuinely concerned about privacy, refrain from using potentially risky technology and assume responsibility for your digital security. Don’t expect reassurances from the internet while continuously expressing anxiety and blaming others. Take decisive actions if privacy is crucial.
